Mamelodi Sundowns stretched their lead at the top of the DStv Premiership to six points by recording a 3-1 win away to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in one of two catch-up matches played in South Africa’s top flight on Tuesday.

The Brazilians extended their unbeaten start to the campaign to 19 matches and opened a six-point buffer over nearest chasers Golden Arrows – who have played two more matches than the reigning champions.

‘Downs racked up the victory thanks to goals from Rivaldo Coetzee, Sphelele Mkhulise and Sibusiso Vilakazi – who all scored for the first time this season.

TTM put in a brave performance, and had the first goal of the game through Thembisani Nevhulamba, but ultimately succumbed to remain in the relegation playoff spot.

The evening game at the FNB Stadium saw Kaizer Chiefs held 2-2 by Stellenbosch FC. All four goals were scored in a crazy span of 13 minutes in the second half, with the Maroons twice claiming the lead through Nathan Sinkala and Phathutshedzo Nange, only for the Amakhosi to hit back quickly through Leonardo Castro and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

The result sees the Amakhosi remain in ninth place (two points off the top half of the table), while the Maroons rise to 10th, just one point behind the Soweto giants.
