FC IfeanyiUbah coach Mitko Dobrev has said they will prefer to feature in next year’s CAF Champions League as against the Confederation Cup and that is why they will be gunning for a win on Sunday when they face hosts MFM FC in a final league match.

IfeanyiUbah are third on the table and should they finish as runners-up on Sunday, they will feature in the Champions League.

They are also on track to win this year’s Federation Cup, which will enable them to play in the 2017 Confederation Cup.

“I would love us to pick up the Champions League. It’s the most prestigious competition in Africa. I have had the honour of playing in that tournament with Hearts of Oak, Heartland and Enyimba and I would love to have that feeling again,” said the Bulgarian coach.

“Moreover the exposure my players will get from this tournament is another reason why I prefer the Champions League.’

Dobrev said playing international football next year will be a good return on the huge investment by the club owner.

“To get a continental ticket will be a very big thing for our club. As you know our project is just two years old so if we are able to get the ticket it will be a very big present to our President, Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who has invested heavily in this club and also been there for us,” he said.

When asked about the readiness of the team for Sunday’s big match against MFM, Dobrev was optimistic of the team’s ability to deliver on Sunday.

‘It’s been an intense one month for us, we have played a lot of matches and also traveled some long distances with the last being the Fed Cup semifinals in Kaduna. However, we are fully focused and motivated for Sunday’s match and we will do our very best.,” he assured.

“MFM are a very good side but am sure that if we play to our strength, we will get a win.

“It is going to be a tough game but I am confident we will get the victory.”
