Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu insists he is not thinking about winning the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title, with his attention focused on improving the Phobians as a team.

Boadu has helped Hearts claim successive wins over WAFA and Aduana Stars since joining the team two months ago.

The Accra-based club has put together a six-game unbeaten streak since their 1-0 reverse at the hands of Medeama in early February.

This has seen them rise to third place on the standings – three points off the pace of league leaders Great Olympics – and sparked talk of a first title since 2009. Yet Boadu says such lofty ambitions are premature.

“Tactically we have a lot of work to do. Now the players are coping with my systems and philosophy but I want to quickly adapt to it,” Boadu said at the post-match conference after the 2-0 win over Stars this past weekend, as quoted by Ghana Soccernet.

“My philosophy is to play attacking football but Aduana Stars came with a different plan to stop us, but we were able to beat them.

“We are thinking of working on the technique and tactics of the players at the moment.

“The plan is to take it game by game and not concentrate on the league title now. The moment we are winning our matches things will change on the league title.”

Hearts of Oak will be back in GPL action this weekend with a match away to 10th-placed AshantiGold.
