Ghana Football Association (GFA) target Tariq Lamptey has named Senegal and Liverpool FC winger Sadio Mane among his toughest opponents faced in the English Premier League.

Having established himself as Brighton and Hove Albion’s first-choice right-back, the 20-year-old starlet is in his second season in the Premier League and he is one of the most promising right-backs in the world.

Born in the English capital city, London, Lamptey is of Ghanaian descent and he is an England youth international, but he is still eligible to play for Ghana’s Black Stars’ with the GFA known to be targeting him.

“It’s difficult to pick my most difficult opponent, I have enjoyed the different challenges,” Lamptey told his club’s official website. https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/2080866/lamptey-adjusting-to-the-premier-league-not-easy/

“Paul Pogba, Sadio Mane, N’Golo Kante, there are so many. You go from two or three years ago watching these guys on TV to being on the same pitch as them, it’s a surreal feeling.

“When you’re walking out on the pitch, you know you’ve put in the work and deserve to be there. I was waiting for the chance so when you go up against those players you’re in the zone and want to get the best result possible.”

Lamptey, who was nurtured in the Chelsea academy before he went on to play for the English giants’ first team in the 2019/20 season, stated that he always plays with energy and fearlessness.

“Nerves don’t come into it, I want to play with energy and fearlessness,” the diminutive player continued.

“It’s definitely not easy playing in the Premier League, but I demand a lot of myself and that starts in training. You put the most into it and then you try to improve and do even better.

“When you come into the game you’re ready to get the best out of yourself. You don’t have time to think ‘I haven’t played at this level’, you’ve worked for it your whole life and I try to enjoy the experience.”
