Egyptian Premier League club Petrojet FC have sold their promising defender Ahmed Mostafa to Belgian First Division A outfit K.A.A. Gent.

This was confirmed by Gent, who made the announcement on their official website as they prepared for the upcoming 2018/19 First Division A campaign.

The Egypt U-23 international, who joined Gent on a three-year contract, spent last season on loan at El-Dakhelya.

Mostafa, 20, scored three goals and assisting further two in 30 games, as he helped the club survive relegation and also reach the Egypt Cup round of 16.

A Gent club statement read: “One of the new faces on the first training was that of Ahmed Mostafa.”

“The Egyptian left flank player, born on October 21, 1997, comes from Petrojet, which is active in the Egyptian first division. He signed a contract until 2021.”

“Ahmed Mostafa Taher follows in the footsteps of his compatriots Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam and Ahmed Hosny.”

“Mido came to Europe in the summer of 2000 and almost immediately became an audience favorite in the former Ottenstadion.”

“Mostafa is also youth international for Egypt and played last year at the Africa Cup for U20.”
