A move to English giants Chelsea would take Ghanaian star Jordan Ayew to another level according to Marcel Desailly.

The 28-year-old marksman has been one of Africa’s top performers in the English Premier League this season.

Ayew is Crystal Palace’s top goalscorer in the league having netted nine goals in the competition thus far.

“It’s time for him [to step up],” Desailly, who is a former Chelsea captain, told Football Made In Ghana.

“He’s 28-years-old now and he has reached a very high level, as well as being quite consistent in his performances.

Desailly, who represented France at international level despite being born in Ghana, helped Chelsea win the UEFA Super Cup and FA Cup between 1998 and 2000.

The retired defender-cum-midfielder explained that Ayew would have to be a killer if he is to play for a big club like Chelsea.

“We need him to have more hunger. We want him to become a killer,” he added.

“You can see in his face that he is not really a killer, but he is showing great ability, and being at Chelsea can bring him to the level that we all know that he can get to because he is a very good player.”

Ayew will be looking to inspire Palace to a win when they lock horns with Burnley in a Premier League match on Monday, June 29 at 21h00 CAT.
