AFC Ajax’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana has backed his teammates Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs De Ligt to succeed if they move to Barcelona.

The Spanish champions are reportedly leading the race to sign the promising pair of players from the Eredivisie giants and Onana, who made the switch in the opposite direction, and has no doubt the pair can succeed at the Nou Camp.

“I hope that Barcelona attracts them both,” Onana told Marca. “I have spoken with both and have told them that they will be away from the city and the climate.

“These are important aspects for them. Going to a big club is not easy for young toppers, but Barcelona has always understood how to deal with such footballers.

“They are two spectacular footballers. I do not have to describe them. Everyone in the world knows them.

“If all the top clubs are interested, that has a reason. The only thing I can add is that they are good boys and they are hungry. They will undoubtedly conquer the world.”

De Ligt, de Jong and Onana are all likely to feature for Ajax when they continue their 2018/19 Eredivisie campaign with a clash away to NAC Breda this evening. Kick-off is at 19h30 CAT.
