Slavoljub Muslin is to take charge of Serbia, the experienced coach stepping in after Radovan Ćurčić agreed to terminate his contract last week.

The former Crvena zvezda and Lille defender is taking his first national-team post. The 62-year-old has previously been in charge of clubs in France, Morocco, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belgium, Russia, Belarus and Cyprus, while in Serbia he led Crvena zvezda to three titles in two spells in charge.

Muslin will lead Serbia for the duration of their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with the option of an extension if they make it to the final tournament in Russia. His tenure will begin with friendly games against Cyprus (25 May), Israel (31 May) and Russia (6 June). Serbia are up against Wales, Austria, Republic of Ireland, Moldova and Georgia in Group D.
