V.League side announced that Serbian coach Ljupko Petrovic has been appointed as their first team’s manager.

The 69-year-old coach, who is perhaps best known for winning the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991, has signed an undisclosed contract with FLC Thanh Hoa, according to an official statement from the Vietnamese club.

Petrovic had experience in Asia football scene before, having short stints with Shanghai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan in the early 2000s. However, this is his first managerial job in Southeast Asia.

FLC Thanh Hoa finished sixth on the V.League table last season, eight points behind champions Hanoi T&T.
