Japanese club Shonan Bellmare has won the 2016 championship following a 2-1 victory over SHB Da Nang on Monday.

The Vietnamese side took the lead in the 54th via a Gaston Merlo header from a corner. However, just 7 minutes later, Mitsuki equalized for Shonan Bellmare with a thumping header.

Mitri Yamane scored the winning goal for the Japanese side deep in extra time to help them win the trophy for the first time.

This is the first time a Japanese club won the BTV Cup title. Last year’s winners was Brazilian side Bangu.
