Johor Darul Ta’zim sporting director Alistair Edwards said in a recent interview that the Malaysian club will aim to qualify for the every year.

JDT is preparing to play an important AFC Champions League qualifying match against Thai club Bangkok United, the winners of which will advance to the next round. The match is scheduled to play in late January 2017.

If they emerge victoriously, JDT is likely to face Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the final round of qualification.

And if JDT manages to navigate through those two playoffs, ties against the Australian giants Adelaide United, Jiangsu FC (China) and defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (South Korea) awaits them.

“The philosophy at JDT is about continuous improvement, with the main objective to compete regularly in the coveted AFC Champions League”, Edwards told local newspapers.
