coach Lee Tae-Hoon praised as “one of the best teams in Southeast Asia” following a 2-1 defeat against the Golden Stars in the final group match of the .

Having already qualified for the semi-finals following victories over co-hosts Myanmar and Malaysia, Vietnam finished the group stage with a perfect record, despite playing nearly the entire match with 10 players. Defender Truong Dinh Luat was shown a straight red card just 10 minutes into the match.

However, It did not seem to affect the Vietnamese side as a goal from captain Le Cong Vinh as well as Nub Tola’s rather unfortunate own goal helped the Golden Stars to a relatively comfortable victory.

“Vietnam is one of the best teams in Southeast Asia. They lost a player early into the game but still controlled the play”, Lee Tae Hoon said after the match.

“We had our best game so far but I must admit Vietnam is a better team. We are a young side and need more experience”, the South Korean coach added.

Meanwhile, Vietnam coach Nguyen Huu Thang said he is happy with the result and his team’s performance.

“If we had not been without a player, we could have scored more. I’m happy with the result and the way we played”, he said after the match.
