Cambodia coach Lee bemoans players’ mistakes after Myanmar defeat

Cambodia coach Lee Tae Hoon said his players have made mistakes after a 3-1 defeat against co-hosts Myanmar in their second matchday at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.

Despite taking an early lead through Sos Suhana’s goal, the Angkor Warriors became the first side to be knocked out of the tournament after defender Zaw Min Tun to score a brace before Aung Thu wrapped up the victory with a clinical finish in the second half.

“It’s always disappointing to lose a game. In the first half, we had a good note for our team when we had the ball but our young boys made big mistakes from set pieces,” Lee said after the match. They were told to man-mark but they forgot and that was a big mistake which only made things more difficult for us.

“We will try our best in the last game against Vietnam. Our players need to develop further in the future.”

Meanwhile, Myanmar coach Gerd Zeise said his team will play for a win in their final group match against Malaysia as the co-hosts look to qualify for their first-ever semifinal appearance.

“For the next game, we will play for a victory, even if we could qualify for the semi-final with just a point,” the German told media after the final whistle. “We could have finished a little bit better but maybe we’ll do that in the next match.”
