Trent Alexander-Arnold responded to his England snub in the perfect way by providing a crucial assist in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Arsenal.

The Reds defender was left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the March international break as Kieran Trippier, Reece James and Kyle Walker were preferred to him.

And Alexander-Arnold sent a message to the Three Lions boss by providing an inch perfect cross for substitute Diogo Jota to head home to break the deadlock in the 64th minute at the Emirates.

Liverpool doubled their lead through Mohamed Salah just four minutes later as the forward scored for the first time in six Premier League games.

And Jurgen Klopp’s men killed the content with eight minutes remaining through Jota again as they closed the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea to two points.

Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney added to Arsenal’s injury woes by limping off in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.

The left-back clashed with Liverpool midfielder James Milner and came off worse with a knee injury.

Tierney joins David Luiz, Granit Xhaka, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka on the sidelines as Arsenal failed to mark Mikel Arteta’s 50th game in charge with a win.
