Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger

Ray Parlour says Arsenal will have no choice but to sell Alexis Sanchez this summer if he wants out.

The Chilean has refused to sign an extension to his contract, which expires in 2018, and was dropped for Saturday’s clash with Liverpool amid reports of a fall-out with Arsene Wenger.

Club icon Parlour says it would be a ‘real shame’ if Sanchez were to move on, but admits it is looking likely he will go at the end of the season.

“There will be clubs queueing up for Sanchez,” the three-time Premier League title winner told talkSPORT.

“If he doesn’t sign a contract, they have to sell him. They can’t keep him and let him see out his contract. They have to cash in, like they did with Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri.

“It is such a shame because he has been a brilliant player for Arsenal.”

Parlour believes there could be huge change at the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Sanchez not the only one whose Gunners future is uncertain.

Wenger is yet to confirm whether he plans to extend his 21-year reign as manager, while Mesut Ozil is stalling over a new contract.

Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also be up for sale with the England duo, just like Ozil and Sanchez, approaching the final 12 months of their deals.

Parlour said: “There are five big decisions Arsenal have got to make.

“They have to make a decision with the manager – he has to decide what he wants to do – and Ozil and Sanchez.

“Then you have got Jack Wilshere, who is going to come back into the ranks and has a year left on his contract. And Oxlade-Chamberlain is down to one year on his contract.

“There are some big decisions to be made.”
