Anthony Gordon has become the second player in Premier League history to score against all of the ‘Big Six’ in a single season.

The Newcastle winger was on target in the 4-0 demolition of Tottenham at St James’ Park in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Gordon doubled the Magpies’ lead in the 32nd minute after cutting past Micky van de Ven before blasting beyond Guglielmo Vicario from close range.

It was his tenth top-flight goal this term, with the 23-year-old now finding the back of the net against Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester United and City.

In doing so, he has become the first person – and second overall – to achieve the feat since Jamie Vardy‘s heroics for Leicester in the 2017/18 campaign.

The ex-Everton forward, who also chipped in with two assists against Tottenham, scored the winner in the 1-0 victories over Arsenal and United.

He also found himself on the score sheet in the 4-1 victory over Chelsea, and in the defeats to Liverpool and City.

Gordon can count himself unlucky he wasn’t awarded the man-of-the-match trophy after running Ange Postecoglou‘s side ragged.

He supplied the opening assist for Alexander Isak, before his late corner was headed home by Fabian Schar.

The rout lifts Newcastle up to sixth in the table to keep their European dreams alive.

Speaking to TNT Sports following the win, Gordon said: “We knew we couldn’t play our normal way against this team because they are so good with the ball.

“So we changed tactically, went man for man, and the game plan that the manager set us up with was outstanding.”

Reflecting on the timing of goal which came just two minutes after Isak’s first strike, he remarked: “I think especially here at St James’ with the crowd, if we can score back to back, quite close then it can feel like the stadium is suffocating you.

“Trust me, I have been here as an away player and it definitely feels like that.

“It came at a vital time and from there I felt like we controlled the game.”
