Jurgen Klopp’s men must win to keep their hopes alive but Sean Dyche will have the same mentality for his side.

Following a controversial win against Nottingham Forest, the Toffees have moved five points clear of the relegation zone and one more victory would surely secure their safety.

Everton vs Liverpool: Klopp’s last derby

Klopp is set for his final Merseyside derby as Liverpool manager.

He has faced Everton 16 times in the Premier League since joining the Reds in 2015.

Out of those 16 meetings, his side have come out on top in nine of them, drawing six and losing one – with that loss coming in February 2021.

Since then, Liverpool have dominated the derby and haven’t conceded a single goal in their last four clashes.

Should they win Klopp’s final derby, the German will become the first-ever Reds boss to win 10 league games against their bitter rivals.

And he can become the club’s second manager ever to win both his first and last derby against Everton, emulating legend Kenny Dalglish

Everton vs Liverpool: Team news

Everton will be without striker Beto after he was stretchered off and taken to hospital following a clash of heads in the Forest game.

Seamus Coleman could return to action but Nathan Patterson, Lewis Dobbin and Dele Alli will all remain sidelined.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite are both fit after recovering from knocks and starting at the weekend.

As for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Alexis Mac Allister are all expected to start after being rested against Fulham

The star trio should come back into the line-up alongside Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai while Thiago and Joel Matop remain out.

Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold may not be risked so soon after their last outing as they have both just returned from injury.

  • Everton vs Liverpool has seen more red cards than any other fixture in Premier League history (23), with Everton’s 16 the most one side has against another in the competition. Ashley Young was sent off in the reverse fixture, though there hasn’t been a red card in both meetings between the sides since 2005-06.
  • Everton have failed to score in each of their last four Premier League meetings with Liverpool, their longest run without a league goal against the Reds since a run of nine between 1972 and 1976.

Everton vs Liverpool: What has been said?

Klopp is pleased with the state of his squad for the final few games of the season, with their injury-plagued spell seemingly coming to an end.

“The squad situation, at the moment, hopefully, it stays like that, it is as good as it has been this season,” the Liverpool boss said.

“If you saw our bench today [Sunday], it was real quality and experience.

“I loved all the kids who played for us, they did an incredible job, and we wouldn’t be where we are without them, but it’s cool, for once, to have all the big guns as well.

“Now we have to stay gritty, stay on it. Let’s see what we can do.”

  • No player has been directly involved in more Premier League goals for Everton this season than Dwight McNeil (8 – 3 goals, 5 assists). However, McNeil has never scored or assisted a goal in 10 league appearances against Liverpool, only facing Manchester United (12) more without a top-flight goal or assist.
  • Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in six goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Everton, scoring five and assisting one. He scored a brace in the reverse fixture in October – the last player to score 2+ goals in both Merseyside derbies in a league campaign was Dixie Dean in 1932-33, while the last for Liverpool was Dick Forshaw in 1925-26.
