Everton have launched an appeal over their second points deduction.

The Toffees were docked two points earlier this month and will now launch a formal appeal against their punishment for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

The appeal process must be concluded by 24 May, five days after the final game of the Premier League season on 19 May.

The Toffees are yet to secure safety from relegation and currently sit just two points off the drop on 27 points.

Everton‘s second round of points deductions come after admitting a financial breach of £16.6million for the three-year cycle up to the 2022/23 campaign.

It saw them drop one place down in the table to 16th.

The Toffees’ first points deduction this season came in November, with Sean Dyche’s side docked 10 points for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules.

An appeal then led to that 10 being reduced to six points in February.

Meanwhile, fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest have also been handed a four-point deduction this term for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

Forest – who sit one place below Everton in the table and one point off the drop – have also launched an appeal against the decision.
