Ashley Young has been quick to poke fun at Nottingham Forest following Everton’s 2-0 win in the relegation six-pointer.

The Toffees defender was at the centre of controversy in Sunday’s key clash at Goodison Park, with three penalty decisions going in his favour.

Forest were left furious after they were denied spot-kicks for Young clipping Gio Reyna, handling a Callum Hudson-Odoi cross and then bundling the forward over.

The club then released a stunning statement accusing the PGMOL of deploying a Luton Town fan as the VAR.

Young, meanwhile, couldn’t help but smirk when he was asked about the penalty incidents in his post-match interview.

Now, the Everton star appears to have rubbed further salt in the wounds of Forest fans.

Taking to X the morning after the game, Young posted a screenshot of one of singer Justin Timberlake’s most iconic songs – ‘Cry Me A River’.

“Old Skool Tunes For Today,” Young wrote alongside his photo of his Spotify choice, followed by two wink-face emojis.

Fans on social media were quick to spot the indirect post, too.

“Ashley Young is an elite s***house”, one user said.

“Should play that song by the Commodores – once, twice, three times a penalty,” another joked, following the theme of using songs to sum up the game.

“Love it lad,” another Everton fan messaged.

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo goes on furious ‘why always us’ rant in incredible post-match interview

Meanwhile a fourth fan, who wasn’t so impressed, commented: “C’mon dude…..this is harsh.”

And this supporter quipped: “Can tell he’s been around [Neal] Maupay.”

This fan then simply stated: “Nah this is the tweet of all tweets.”

Everton’s win over Forest takes them five points clear of the drop, with Forest slumping down the table to be one point 18th-placed Luton.
