The two academy graduates starred during the 3-0 victory over Brighton

Chelsea fans have a simple message for Maurizio Sarri after the 3-0 thumping of Brighton: ‘We told you so’.

The Stamford Bridge faithful had their prayers answered as Callum Hudson-Odoi finally earned his first Premier League start, while there was also a place in the line-up for fellow academy star Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek were the stars of the show at Stamford Bridge

And they repaid their manager’s faith in abundance, with 18-year-old Hudson-Odoi creating the first goal for Olivier Giroud, before Loftus-Cheek scored a second-half screamer.

Eden Hazard grabbed the second goal in between after a clever ball round the corner from Loftus-Cheek as Chelsea produced one of their best displays of the season.

It was a glimpse of the positive, exciting football Chelsea fans were promised when Sarri arrived from Napoli – but up until this point they have been left underwhelmed.

Could this be a learning curve for the Italian to start the two Englishmen more regularly? These fans certainly hope so…
