The March nominations for the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month Award are as follows:

Steve Evans (Gillingham)

His high-energy side didn’t give their opponents a moment’s rest in March, pressing, harrying and playing their way into the Play-Off places. The 3-0 win at Lincoln was the highlight of a haul of 17 points and 16 goals from eight games.

Simon Grayson (Fleetwood Town)

His calm, understated manner has been appreciated by his new team, who quietly collected 13 points from six games to banish any threat of relegation. The base was a solid defensive foundation with just one goal conceded in the month.

Lee Johnson (Sunderland AFC)

Lee Johnson has made believers of his players and the Sunderland fans. He didn’t allow the distraction of a first Wembley triumph in 48 years upset their promotion charge which gathered pace with 16 points from six unbeaten games.

Grant McCann (Hull City)

Grant McCann seems to possess the priceless ability to inspire his side to win the matches that matter most. Of all their results in a month which yielded 14 points and kept Hull top of League One, their 3-1 comeback win at Peterborough stood out.

The March nominations for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month Award are as follows:

A breathtaking eight goals in as many games for a forward who maintained his physicality through a daunting schedule. An angled drive against Ipswich Town, superb anticipation at Swindon and a towering header against Wigan Athletic were the highlights.

Luke O’Nien (Sunderland AFC)

Perhaps the most versatile player in League One, Luke O’Nien has made a seamless transition to central defence under Lee Johnson. His reading of the game, anticipation and bravery all contributed to five clean sheets in six games.

Sammie Szmodics (Peterborough United)

A vital cog in the Peterborough United promotion machine, the 25-year-old has perfected the art of bursting clear from midfield to add to his commendable work ethic. He contributed three goals and two assists in his six March games.

Jerry Yates (Blackpool)

Four goals in eight games for the hard-working forward, whose pressing never gives opposing defenders a moment’s peace in spite of playing up front on his own. Each one of his goals was pivotal, giving Blackpool the lead.
