Sky Bet Championship – August Goal of the Month nominations:

Jacob Murphy (Norwich City) v Blackburn Rovers

Suggested by @callum_innit

Murphy picked the ball up from Jonny Howson, beat his man and rifled a shot into the top right hand corner from 25 yards. It was Murphy’s first goal for the club on a successful opening day outing for the Canaries as they ran out 4-1 victors at Ewood Park.

Tom Cairney (Fulham) v Leeds United

Suggested by @_Rilerrrs

Cairney allowed Kevin McDonald’s pass from the right wing to roll across his body, before dispatching a curling effort into the bottom left corner of Robert Green’s goal from outside the area. Cairney’s 77th-minute effort was cancelled out by an injury time Chris Wood strike for Leeds as they drew 1-1 at Elland Road.

Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United) v Reading

Suggested by @davearmstrong94

The first of two goals in the game for Newcastle’s new number nine. Gayle lined up the 30-yard free kick and hit a fierce curling effort into the top left hand corner of Ali Al-Habsi’s goal. The Toon Army ran out 4-1 winners after a hectic early season clash at St James’ Park.

Sky Bet League One – August Goal of the Month nominations:

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (Gillingham) v Shrewsbury

Suggested by @dazsnowman and @OfficialJET10

Emmanuel-Thomas picked up the ball just inside the Shrewsbury half before beating his man and rifling a 30-yard shot into the top right-hand corner, leaving the Shrews goalkeeper Jayson Leutwiler helpless. This was the second of a JET double, which drew Gillingham level before a late Max Ehmer goal secured the three points.

Mark Marshall (Bradford City) v Coventry

Suggested by @Jayfeath7

Marshall allowed two men in front of him to be drawn away by his team-mates’ runs before cutting inside with his right and drilling a low shot into the bottom-left corner. Marshall’s goal put Bradford into the lead for the first time in the game, and they finished as 3-1 winners.

Jay Spearing (Bolton Wanderers) v Sheffield United

Suggested by @DavidJ_Roberts

When the ball was headed out following a long throw-in, Jay Spearing was there to meet it with a fantastically timed right-footed volley from 20 yards into the bottom-right corner of the Sheffield United goal. The game finished 1-0, with Spearing’s goal the decider and Bolton currently sit top of the table with 14 points from six games.

Sky Bet League Two – August Goal of the Month nominations:

Dan O’Shaughnessy (Cheltenham Town) v Mansfield Town

Suggested by @ewrichards12321

After striding out of defence and beating Mansfield’s Mitch Rose, Finland international Dan O’Shaughnessy launched an unstoppable bending shot from 30 yards past Scott Shearer in the Stags net. This levelled up the scores at 1-1, which is how the game finished.

Graham Carey (Plymouth Argyle) v Mansfield Town

Suggested by @LouisJSanderson

Carey received the ball from Jimmy Spencer on the right touchline with a lot of work to do, but Mansfield left-back Mal Benning backed off and allowed Carey to run at him, cut inside and feign to shoot, before dragging it past Benning and looping a chipped finish over Brian Jensen. Carey’s second of the game sealed a comfortable 2-0 win for Plymouth.

Alex Kiwomya (Crewe Alexandra) v Newport County

Suggested by @Josh_CAFC_180

Chelsea loanee Kiwomya picked the ball up in his own half with one thought in his mind and drove towards the Newport defence, before checking his run, cutting inside and leashing an effort into the top-right corner of the net. Newport pulled a goal back in the second half meaning that the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
